About the artist:

Having taught himself how to flamework in between his educational career, Steven Baker found himself captivated by the nature of making and the way in which glass translates his thoughts and obsessions. While in the Craft and Material department at VCU he was introduced to the process of casting glass. Steven creates carefully manipulated works in wax and clay that are then reborn into glass's exciting characteristics via different complex mold making processes. Steven is now a full time Flameworker focusing on creating functional objects to be the canvases for his sculpting.
